Major rehab of Dinaligan Bridge in Surigao starts



The Dinaligan Steel Bridge in Malimono, Surigao del Norte is undergoing major repair and strengthening works starting October 18.


The Malimono Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that the Dinaligan Steel Bridge had a damaged platform, and so it was rehabilitated, and a rip rap was installed including early warning signs. Dinaligan is located in Barangay Masgad.


Citing the report from Barangay Masgad chairwoman Maryjane Capistrano, the Malimono MDDRMO, in its Facebook account said as part of the major rehabilitation along the steel bridge, heavy vehicles would be banned while retrofitting is ongoing.


"We are glad to announce that we have finally received an allocation from the MDRRMC Chairperson Malimono Mayor Wallace R. Sinaca thru the Office of the MDRRM headed by Mrs. Gretchen A. Suarez and Surigao del Norte PDRRMO Engr. Marilyn Pono."


The FB account says that the agencies involved in the rehabilitation are the Office of the Provincial Governor Atty. Francisco T. Matugas thru the Provincial Engineering Office and BPLK volunteers of Brgy. Masgad.


Earlier, the bridge foundation had a rip rap done on September 27, 2020, where the damaged platform of the steel bridge is again rehabilitated.
