PUERTO PRINCESA CITY – At least 100 families received food packs in a gift-giving activity undertaken by the Mendoza Park Police Station, in Barangay San Jose in this lone city in Palawan on October 18.
Mendoza PS Station Commander Police Captain Aron Elona said the gift-giving was part of the agency’s “Agarang Ayuda” program aimed at helping less fortunate people to cope with the effects of coronavirus disease pandemic.
“Ito ay pamimigay ng agarang ayuda sa sa mga tao lalong lalo na sa mga naapektuhan ng Covid,” he added. The group also extends assistance to flood and calamity victims.
“Yun namang maapektuhan ng bagyong Maring, meron din po kaming naka-prepare na mga pagkain na nakalagay sa aming mga food banks,” he said, explaining that food banks have been established in every police office.
The gift-giving activity, dubbed as “BARANGAYanihan Alay ni Tay at Nay”, is a continuing program of Police Station 1 that aims to provide essential goods to the families in need especially this time of COVID -19 pandemic, and to cultivate the spirit of "BAYANIHAN" and good will in helping the community.
Police Lieutenant Mary Jane Bonus, chief of PCR, led the activity in Barangay San Jose.
During the activity, minimum health protocol were strictly observed.
Meanwhile, the recipients expressed their gratitude through a smile in their eyes and by saying “thank you” that heartily felt by the team.
